Ford Escort 1.3GL MK2 1976

Very nice and original Mk2 Escort, still mainly original paint and unwelded.

Spent the last 20 years mainly sitting in storage and only used occasionally in the summer months. The owner didn’t even realise that the seats were covered, so been covered for 20+ years.

The exterior has been painted from the trim line down, roof, bonnet, boot and internal areas are still in original paint. Panels are nice and straight with good gaps. Only downside is that the front valance has a bit of damage, also a slight dent in the roof caused whilst in storage.

Interior is not bad for its age but not perfect, carpet and roof lining are very good but the driver’s seat and top of the rear bench seat have some ware. I lifter the floor maty as best as possible to check the condition of the floors, everywhere the original sound proofing is still present.

Undercarriage has had a light covering of rust protection from new, this is still in great shape and has protected the underside very well. From what I can see and have been informed, it has never been welded. There are also aluminium inner arche protectors fitted to the front fenders, these are quite common in Finland and do their job well.

Mechanically all is in order and drives well. Yearly inspections (MOT/TUV) have always been carried out.
