Hudson Super Six Hot Rod

According to unearthed information, this Hudson was confiscated from pirate smugglers during the Prohibition Act and was forgotten about for many years. Stored outside for decades and in the last years in a cold barn.

When the current owner purchased it, there wasn’t much left of the car and restoration wasn’t really an option. So, a Hot Rod project suited it best. It was built in the style of the so-called “Rat Rod”, but there are no rust finishing on it.

The frame of the body is made of profile steel, all aluminum surface parts are attached to the frame by screwing and partly by riveting.

It is powered by a Chevrolet V8 (305cid) which is connected to a Chevrolet automatic (th700) gearbox.

Suspension, axles, steering and seats are from a Jaguar XJ40 (1989), or similar. So, the car has separate suspension system, enhanced disc brakes, enhanced Tie Rod steering and front/rear tilt stabilizers.

Sliding sunroof is from a Renault Twingo, there is also the bonus a heating device and defroster.

Interior is rough, but functional.

It drives well and keeps up with other traffic. However, it is not at its best at highway speeds due to poor air resistance. For many years now it has been working flawlessly, it is also easy to maintain as both Chevrolet and Jaguar parts are readily available.
