Fully documented history and driven only 50,000km.
I really don’t know where to start explaining this time warp as there is so much detail everywhere you look, it is in great original condition. I have had the car for over two years now and never planed on selling it, unfortunately I need to fund another project, so she has to go.
The previous owner died, and the car was left to the kids, it had been stored for around thirty years in a cold but dry garage. There was a tree that had grown in front of the garage door and had to be cut down to be able to open the door, unfortunately they didn’t take a photo of the tree in front of the garage. They did take a photo though after opening the door and exposing the car to sun light for the first time in around 30 years, a true find. The car was still in great condition even after all those years, there are photos from when it was found.
The family cleaned the car and then put it up for sale, I bought it from them in 2017. The engine was seized solid and the car obviously needed mechanically totally going through.
The bodywork/paint has been affected whilst in storage but is perfectly fine to use as is, I prefer it left like this to show its originality.
The interior had seat covers and covers on the carpet from new that preserved it really well.
Me and my father spend the winter of 2017 getting the car road worthy again, below is a list of what was done. Other then the below listed, the car is the same as when it went into storage in 1987.
Engine rebuild including new pistons & rings.
Complete new clutch and clutch cylinder.
All new seals.
Reconditioned front brake callipers and new pads.
New rear brake cylinders and shoes.
All new fluids.
I am sure there was more, but you get the point.
In the spring of 2018, I had it inspected (MOT/TUV), it passed and was ready to be enjoyed again on the road. Unfortunately due to my work load I wasn’t able to use it as much as I would have liked to, but the few times that I did manage to get it out on the road were great. Driving this car is the closest you will get to driving a new Ford Cortina 1600 Deluxe 1969, it really has the new car feel to it, everything works as it should and it is a real pleasure to drive. Just one example is the speedo, it reads the speed very accurately and the needle is so steady.
I could go on and on but best I let the photos explain it all, I’ll just list a few pointers.
