A beautifully restored 1966 Ford Cortina 1500 GT, originally sold new in Finland and first registered on 13 April 1966.
This is a particularly desirable example, finished in the classic British Racing Green with a contrasting black interior — a timeless combination that suits the Cortina perfectly.
The car was museum registered in Finland in 2011 and subsequently underwent a comprehensive restoration between 2016 and 2020. Almost every aspect of the car was renewed or restored, with great attention paid to maintaining its original character and appearance.
The body was stripped back to bare metal before being thoroughly restored and protected with comprehensive underseal and rust protection.
The engine and gearbox were completely rebuilt by a Ford specialist, and the car benefits from a higher-geared final drive, making it particularly well suited to modern road use while retaining the character of the original GT.
Further work includes:
- Stainless-steel exhaust system, carefully made to resemble the original
- Completely renewed interior, including headlining and floor coverings
- New fuel tank
- New brakes and brake lines
- New electrical wiring
- New fuel lines
- Numerous other mechanical and cosmetic components renewed during the restoration
The result is a very attractive and mechanically well-sorted Cortina GT that combines genuine Finnish history with a comprehensive restoration.
