A superbly presented Ford Sierra Cosworth 4×4, built to Group A specification and finished in the iconic Ford Motorsport / Q8 Oils livery. This is a serious historic rally car, combining the legendary Cosworth turbocharged performance and four-wheel-drive system with an established competition history and a comprehensive motorsport specification.

History

The car was originally imported to Finland when new, believed to have come from Germany, and was never road registered at that time. It was converted to Group N specification from new.

The current owner competed in the car in several rallies during the 1990s before subsequently buying it back and undertaking a conversion to Group A specification. The build was completed in 2023, and his son has since driven the car in a further couple of rallies.

The car is reported to perform extremely well and is presented in excellent condition, with its competition specification complemented by its recently completed Finnish road registration.

It is accompanied by Historic FIA/J2 documentation, with the HTP valid until 31 December 2033.

Bodywork and interior

The car is finished in its striking blue, white and cream Ford Motorsport / Q8 Oils livery, with white competition wheels and a rear spoiler.

The stripped competition interior features a welded-in roll cage, two bucket seats, competition steering wheel, dedicated switchgear and a motorsport driving position. The engine bay is equipped with a turbocharged installation and extensive heat shielding, while the rear compartment houses a purpose-built aluminium fuel tank.

Registration and inspection

The car has recently been registered for road use in Finland and passed its Finnish roadworthiness inspection. The Finnish registration document identifies the vehicle as a Ford Sierra Cosworth 4×4, with first-use date recorded as 1 January 1990.

This provides an unusual opportunity to acquire a historic Group A-specification Sierra Cosworth with both competition credentials and Finnish road-registration status.
