Dodge Li’l Red Express Truck
Dodge released the Li’l Red Express Truck between 1978 and 1979. At the time, this D Series variant was the fastest American made vehicle from 0 to 100 MPH as tested by Car and Driver magazine. These trucks, which were part of Dodge’s “Adult Toys,” were powered by a 360ci V8 engine with an output of 225hp, coupled to a 727 transmission with diff lock. A total of 7,306 examples of the Li’l Red Express were produced.
Our example was sold new here in Finland, first registered in 1981. Back then the Finnish authorities required large side mirrors to be fitted before giving permission for registration.
These trucks were mainly sold in the USA and very rarely exported to Europe.
A complete frame off restoration was completed in 2023, this included some of the following:
- Frame sandblasted and painted.
- Body sandblasted and painted, new livery.
- Engine inspected.
- Gearbox inspected.
- All suspension, brakes, and steering joints have been checked and replaced, if necessary.
- Interior soundproofing and new carpet.
- New “Stuff” wooden steering wheel.
Now registered on the Finnish Museum register.
