Offered for sale is this lovely 1978 Ford Escort Mk2 1.3 –  a genuine and original example.

Sold new in Finland, this Escort remained with the same family in the same village from new. It spent approximately 30 years in dry storage before recently being recommissioned and returned to the road.

Recent Work Completed

• Professionally repainted in its original factory colour after removal of the engine and all glass.
• Minor rust repairs carried out in the typical Mk2 Escort areas.
• Engine fully serviced.
• Brake system serviced.
• Fuel tank removed, cleaned and refitted.
• Passed Finnish road inspection and is ready to drive.

One particularly nice feature is that the boot compartment remains in its original factory paint, complete with its original production stickers. Details like this are becoming increasingly rare and speak volumes about the originality of the car.

Exterior

The body is exceptionally straight and presents very well throughout. The professional repaint has an excellent finish with a deep shine.

Interior

The interior is remarkably well preserved and remains almost entirely original. The seats, door cards and trim are in excellent condition, with only a small hole on the front corner of the driver’s seat.

The carpets were lifted during inspection, revealing untouched original floors that still retain their factory sound-deadening material—a great indication of how well this car has survived.

Mechanical

The Escort starts easily, drives very well and has recently benefited from a full service. It is ready to be enjoyed immediately.

Underside

The underside is honest and impressively original. The chassis rails and floor pans remain largely untouched, with only a couple of small repairs visible.

This is a rare opportunity to own an honest Escort with wonderful originality and a fantastic colour combination. Cars like this are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
