Steyr Puch 700C Estate

BACKGROUND

In 1954 it was decided at Steyr-Puch to resume car production after the war. Because of the high costs associated with the development of a completely new design, an agreement was made with Fiat to acquire and adapt the body in white of their Nuova 500 (Italian: Cinquecento) model designed by Dante Giacosa. Of the body, only the engine cover and later the roof was produced in-house. On the other hand, engine, transmission and carriage were all manufactured by Steyr-Puch. (Wikipedia)

The Steyr-Puch 700C is a wagon (Estate) version of the Fiat Nuova 500. It was built in Austria from 1961 until 1968. It has a larger 643 cc engine, good for 25 hp.

HISTORY

This vehicle was sold new in Central Finland in 1961, registration number XI-622. There It had changed hands once.

In 1992 the vehicle moved to the Tampere region, where it was re-registered with the registration number NH-295. New owner 1994 – 1995 from the same region.

The current owner from Lahti purchased the vehicle in 1995. It was restored between 1996 – 1997 and then listed on the Finnish Museum register, with registration number MA-292.

In 2002, the registration number was returned to the original XI-622.

EXTERIOR

During the restoration, the floor, sills, front, back panels, and front bumpers were replaced. The trunk lid and the left door are also new. The lower edges of the right and rear doors have been changed. The edges of the rear fenders have been replaced.

It was then sandblasted, epoxy primed and painted green. The original colour was red.

It has been driven around 34000 km between: Nordkapp – Graz (Austria). There are visible stone chips and some scratches, there has not been any accident damage

INTERIOR

The seats and panels have been re-upholstered with artificial leather in brown and white, later added removable set covers.

Floor rubber mats renewed in 2014.

MECHANICS

The engine is standard and original, matching numbers.

Cylinder heads made for unleaded gasoline.

Runs and drives perfectly!

UNDERNEATH

The underneath is in good condition and rust free.

Rust protector has been applied.

PAPERWORK

Included is:

• Current Finnish registration certificate.

• Finnish Museum certificate.

BRIEF SUMMERY

Rare estate version of the Steyr Puch that has been restored and is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner, original colour was red. Original matching numbers engine.
