Volkswagen Beetle 1963 Matching Numbers

A very well-preserved original ’63 Beetle, with matching numbers. Never welded as far as I can see.

This is a two-owner car that was sold new here in Finland, well three owners if you count me. It has been on display in a couple of museums for some time, and for the past few decades it has been on display at the premises of a car dealership in Uusimaa near Helsinki. Last inspection (MOT/TUV) was in 2003, when the car was also museum registered. So not been used on the road for the last 20 years.

It is mostly unrestored and in nice original condition. It is over 60 years old though so has signs of ware.

The interior is untouched, the only real down fall is the drivers seat condition. Included with the sale are two new front seat covers to match.

At some stage it was overpainted, this we believe to have been carried out in the early nineties. It has been done well but has some overspray on the window rubbers, all internal areas look to be original paint.

The underneath was rust protected from new, some has now been scrapped away carefully to unveil the original bottom. There are no signs of welding.

Jobs recently carried out:

-New 5.60 camac criss-cross tires (5 pcs)

-Overpainted rims

-New running boards and skirting board. Footboard rubbers NOS Satin blue coloured rubbers purchased from Germany.

-Front brakes refurbished (brake pipes, brake hoses, brake cylinder and brake shoes)

-Rear brakes refurbished (brake pipes, brake hose, brake cylinders and brake shoes)

– Front wheel bearings replaced

– Rail rods renewed

-Fuel pump repaired, Fuel tank cleaned, fuel lines also cleaned.

-New spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cover, rotor, capacitor installed in the engine.

-Repair kit and oversize valve shaft installed in the carburettor.

-Oils changed in the engine, gearbox, air filter and control shell.

-New 6v battery.

-etc etc..

There are some spares included with the car, these can be seen in the photos.

It will be sold with a fresh inspection (MOT/TUV).

These Beetles are becoming hard to find in this original condition, if it does not sell quick, I might even keep it.
