A beautifully restored 1957 Volkswagen Beetle Oval in the timeless and elegant original colour Horizon Blau. The restoration was completed in summer 2026, bringing this iconic classic Volkswagen back to life with extensive work carried out on the body, engine, chassis, drivetrain, electrical system and interior.
The car has been Finnish Museum registered, and the restoration is documented with photographs from start to finish. This provides the next owner with a valuable visual record of the work carried out during the restoration.
The car presents beautifully in its light blue paintwork, complemented by chrome bumpers and trim, classic steel wheels with stainless steel hubcaps, and a beautifully finished blue interior with contrasting white piping.
Restoration highlights
- Full body restoration, including sandblasting, epoxy primer and three-layer paintwork in original Horizon Blau
- Underside restored with epoxy primer, two-component paint and stone-chip protection
- Engine rebuilt with new pistons, cylinders, camshaft, pushrods, bearings, valves, valve seats, seals and fuel pump
- Gearbox inspected and serviced
- Drivetrain renewed with new rubber components, seals and drive-shaft bearings
- Chassis and suspension work, including new ball joints
- Complete brake overhaul, including new brake lines, wheel cylinders, brake shoes and master cylinder
- New tyres on all five wheels, with painted rims and stainless-steel hubcaps
- Electrical system inspected and partly renewed, with a new battery
- New rubber seals, mudguards, stainless steel bumpers, chrome trim and front lights
- Interior renewed with new headlining, seat padding and upholstery, door panels and floor mats
- New fuel tank and fuel line
A documented restoration
Photographs taken throughout the restoration are available, allowing the next owner to see the work carried out in detail.
Please note that the engine is not the original factory-installed unit, so the car is not a matching-numbers example.
